Go to Dashboard>>Settings>>Reading and choose a static page to be displayed on the front page. Select the newly created page from the drop-down menu (see image on the left). Optionally you can also select a static page to display your blog posts.

When creating the Home page, look in the right column (in editor mode) and select the custom homepage template as your page template (see image on the left).
To determine where the excerpt below the slider comes from, add to the post you want pulled in that section, a custom field named homeintro (value doesn't matter).

Setting up the menus

This theme is using the Custom Menus feature WordPress 3.0 introduced. To set up the menus, go to Dashboard>>Appearance>>Menus.
There you can create your own menus and assign them to the menu positions available in the theme. This theme currently has available 2 menu positions: Header menu (the menu in the header) and Secondary menu (the 2nd menu in the header).
Once you have created and assigned your 2 menus, you can start customizing them. You can either select pages and categories and click Add to menu, or you can create custom links with your desired anchor and links. These can be added to the menus as well. To rearrange the menu items you can simply drag and drop them.
Below are a few images illustrating adding pages and subpages to your menus.

The image on the left shows how the menu items should be positioned to create a subpage (last item). Just drag and drop the item to the desired position. Don't forget to hit Save Menu after performing any changes to it. GO TO TOP
